DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
My Dad's Photos film is an audio/visual journey made of a series of photographs captured by my dad with his phone, after I moved to the UK. As we navigate through these images and share commentary, the narrative unfolds, and my father reflects on his brother, Ömer, and their (lack of) relationship. On one layer, the film delves into the themes of collective memory, Turkey’s constant state of change, and the subtleties of everyday life, while at its core, it always comes back to my dad’s longing for connection.
